You may have heard of Business networking before. ?I used this to good effect in the early days to get my personal training business??off the ground
Finding these groups is easy, just type ?business networking (your city)? into google and head along to an event
This is what you?ll find.
Lots of people in suits, most out of shape chatting, drinking coffee and eating a Fry up. ?Well, they all obviously need you! ?But do they want you?
The meeting then gets called more formally where you sit around and everyone stands up and presents their business in 60 seconds or so
You then move to one to one meetings where you talk to other people at the meetings about each other businesses
Each one is different, has different rules etc. ?I have my own opinions about each group but that doesn?t mean I?m right! ?Two of the larger ones in the UK are 4Networking and BNI
Here are a few pointers to survive your first networking meeting
1. You?re supposed to be a Personal Trainer, a beacon of health, needless to say, go for the continental breakfast with fruit! ?Image means a lot here
2. Dress smartly, your Joggers and Branded PT T-shirt/Hoodie is fine and it actually sets you apart from the rest of the suits, just make sure its clean, well fitting and pressed
3. Don?t sell! ?Its a major turn off, just be yourself and get to know people, sales happen when people trust you
4. ?Don?t sell to the room, sell THROUGH the room so when given the opportunity, rather than saying ?do you want a personal trainer?? say ?who do you know would like a personal trainer?
5. ?Seek to help others first, this is a good strategy in life too
I coach personal trainers on this, if you want to get extra help with your Personal Training Business, you can join the PT Business Club, you can get the details on it by Clicking here
